Conditions, Rights and Obligations of Membership
 
Membership applicants must fulfil the following criteria:
 
  • Applicant shall not be less than 18 years of age.

  • Applicant should not have been convicted of an arrestable offence or of any breach of trust or honour, or must have undergone suitable rehabilitation should this be the case.

  • Applicant shall be of good character and conduct.

  • Applicant must not have been dismissed or suspended from any other club or society; if the same is proved, the management will be free to take appropriate action.

  • Applicant shall endeavour to satisfy the Society’s objectives, and shall avoid any action that may defame or cause damage to the Society or third parties.

  • Applicant shall adhere to the Society’s Articles of Association, by-laws, and Board of Directors’ resolutions.

  • Applicant must agree not to make any statements to the media on behalf of, or in the name of, the Society.

  • Applicant is free to hold any other memberships, whether inside or outside the State, without objection from the Society.


ADIPS Members enjoy the following rights:
 
  • Members may stand as candidates – or vote in the elections for membership – for the Society’s Board of Directors (restricted to UAE nationals only).

  • All Members may vote at the Society’s meetings.

  • All Members may use any of the Society’s facilities, and undertake the various activities and programs of the Society, subject to the by-laws adopted by the Board of Directors.

  • Any Member may join or volunteer for any of the Society’s main committees, provided that the chairman of the concerned committee is notified.
 
 
Membership shall be terminated in the following instances:
 
  • In the event of death, resignation or personal application (however, subscription fees will not be refunded)
    If the Member has breached any of the conditions and duties of membership.

  • If the Member has failed to pay the annual membership fees on the date specified, and after being twicenotified by email during the year of entitlement.

  • If the Member has exploited the Society’s name or regulations in any way which contradicts the Society’s mission, or for personal objectives.

  • Membership is terminated pursuant to the Board of Directors’ recommendation and under a resolution issued by the majority of attending members.

Membership application and issuance requirements:
 
  • Passport copy or civil register extract.

  • 2 photographs.

  • A summary of the applicant’s qualifications and curriculum vitae.

  • 6–10 samples of the applicant’s work.

  • Annual subscription fee of AED 300.

  • If successful, the applicant will be notified, at which point a membership card will be issued.

  • If the application for membership is refused for any reason, the above-mentioned application materials shall be returned.

  • Membership cards are non-transferable and may not be used by anyone other than the owner. In the event that a card is misused, the management will take whatever action it deems appropriate.

  • Membership cards must always be presented upon attending events and activities organized by the Society,or at any time upon request.

  • If the card is lost or stolen, the member concerned must notify the Society and a new replacement card shall
    be issued upon payment of a re-issuance fee of AED 100.

  • The card shall be renewed annually or according to an administrative resolution; therefore, renewal fees shall be AED 300 only.

  • The member must not misuse the card at public facilities-i.e., to request discounts in the name of the Society, or seek to provide tuition without prior permission from the administration. In the event that such activities are discovered, the Society shall take appropriate action. If any photograph related to, created or organized by the Society is sold locally or at abroad, the Society shall be entitled to 20% of the sale value of the photograph concerned.

  • The Society shall treat as strictly confidential all information submitted in the application form, and such information will not be used for any purpose not related to the Society.

  • Membership terms and conditions may be amended or altered by the Board of Directors and no member may reject the same.

  • These terms and conditions are integral to membership of the ADIPS; your signature upon the application form, andany subsequent subscription to the Society, shall be considered as final acceptance of the terms and conditions herein.
