UAE – Western Region: Mohamed Al Muhairi, Director of camel beauty contest (Mazayna Al Dhafra) in Al Dhafra Festival stated that the most successful part of the event was the intergrity, transparency and accuracy in the final result judgments in all the mazayna periods both in terms of increasing the number of the jury to ten and choosing five members of them randomly and on daily basis, in order to screen and determine the first ten camel candidates rankings.

Al Muhairi added that the Committee investigated the integrity of the jury members for the selection of the top ten with a camel ride for the camels that has been not nominated for the first ten ranks to make sure that the referees judgment and selections was fair.

Mohamed Al Muhairi also added that festival organizing committee has worked since the end of the Fourth Al Dhafra Festival Mazayina on a questionnaire that was distributed to the festival participants to write down their comments and suggestions and also their opinions. These comments were taken into consideration and most of the comments were adopted. The camels and ranches main request was to add to the event the Tlad (personal productivity) competitions other than just buying camels to compete in order to encourage breeders to maintain the local breeds. Therefore, the festival organizing committee adopted this proposal and included in this year’s festival by increasing the Tlad (personal productivity) completion runs which was greeted and welcomed by the camel owners.

The Director of Mazayina camels’ festival highlighted that the increasing numbers of participants and camels led to an increase in new participating countries such as: Jordan and Yemen and this is a further evidence of the growing success achieved by the festival on yearly basis. He added that the volume of media coverage from all over the world as well as for the local covering of the event emphasizes this growth, in addition to that the cash prizes value has increased from 35 to 40 million Dirham and also the number of cars prizes from 102 to 155 cars for this year.

Muhairi praised the efforts of the authorities and the institutions involved in the event, which was the main reason of the festival success and he also praised the camel owners’ commitment and discipline.
